Mission Be On Track!
October's Planning...How is it going? Scary?
Rationale:
I decided on making each task and categorising it into not hours but days. This is so that I can be lenient on myself. If I did an hourly check, what if I did not get the task finished? But because I only started on the 21st of October (starting for real! Because previously I was wandering about not having a specific path to follow. By my second meeting, I was still like a jelly fish floating around ideas...I had not even started by background research!). So now, I spend more time on planning and trying to follow my plan. One thing about Gannt charts is that the more tasks I place into one day, the more likely I try to finish all the tasks. And I was super willing and enthusiastic the first two days of research, after...not so much but that was because I thought I was getting on track. So now, I purposely write more tasks than needed so that I do get what is needed done. Most tasks require long term planning and cannot be done in half a month. But I plan to be completely satisfied with my research by the time I get back from CAS week. Also, I plan to communicate with my supervisor more now that I have some parts finished and on track. The goals I have set are challenging yet realistic in my opinion because I know that I am capable of doing the task, it is whether or not I sit down and actually do them.

November's Planning...CAS week! Here I come!
Rationale:
I planned until CAS week because I want to see how far I have gone to continue planning. This method of planning is more effective in this case because I am unsure whether all these tasks that I plan...and they should be done by the time CAS week rolls by. I have significantly less work in the month of November than I have in October due to CAS week and little breaks. In October, I had Mid-term break...a time my personal project prospered because I had so much time to work on it. Although the filmed video will not be a great part of product, as ultimately my product is something I can hold and is physical, it will be a large part of my website. My website is going well but still needs work and constant editing and reflection and addition. But it is something I could be proud to show in my presentation. It also makes life much easier when I start my Personal Project Report in December. That is something I need to discuss with my supervisor. My next Gantt chart will be made after CAS week and my planning will be continued after.

Survey Method
How do you intend to collect data? I will be using google forms to create a survey from which I will collect other people (tenth graders') opinions and thoughts towards the idea of Chinese calligraphy and how much significance it has on their daily lives. This survey will have a variety of questions that should not bias or influence the readers. I will be asking 4 questions to collect qualitative and quantitative data. The five sampling techniques are: 1. Stratified - involves selection from an ordered sampling frame. It targets population already divided into subgroups and then randomly selected. 2. Cluster - Natural but relative homogenous grouping (used when target population is not possible to be got). Population is grouped into subpopulations and tested within these smaller groups. 3. Simple Random - Each element of the population has an equal chance of being selected. Picked at random. Little bias. 4. Systematic - Selection of elements from an ordered sampling frame 5. Non-probability - reliance on convenient I will be collecting data by using systematic sampling. Why is it the most suitable method of collecting data? By using Google Forms, large numbers of surveys will be able to be sent out to multiple people at the same. time. I can view responses almost instantly and immediately. Types of data: Qualitative: I will focus more on qualitative because I want to grab a general sense of the public's view. Quantitative: I will be using some quantitative information to form conclusions and back up my claims. Sampling Method: Systematic was chosen because of the time limit I have. I will gather a list of students in Grade 10 and by placing them in alphabetical order, I will choose every fifth name I see. This will be quick to do to maximise the time there is to respond. I will also have a good general perception on the thoughts on Chinese calligraphy. I already know their ages around. From right* And question No. 6: How many years have you lived in Hong Kong? This only applies to the people I specifically sent e-mails to. |

December's Planning...Merry Christmas!
Rationale:
I have decided to be very specific with this plan because I find it more effective and motivating to have specific tasks set up. It's a personal study habit that I have developed and I think it works very well for me. This plan is very effective and makes me more aware of the time that I am losing with every day I do not work on my Personal Project. This will aid me a lot in the process of keeping on track and staying motivated to finish the project. I have already wasted so much time not working on my personal project because I did not have an active plan that would keep me on track. I truly hope that this plan will work well for me, as a person who needs active help and motivation and encouragement. I enjoy a little pressure because it keeps me working. I decided to make this plan into the three different stages of the Personal Project so I work in a timely fashion and accomplish all three stages. However, indeed I am missing the last stage (the last criterion) but it does not fit well into this plan. The last stage cannot be put into the same plan as this one. I have a lot of catching up to do at this stage. Many of my classmates are already finished with their projects and I have just started, actually physically mentally started. The key advice that I would give to fellow Grade Nine students would be to keep on track and work hard. I am very passionate about this subject but I find it hard to stay on track. My journey reminds me of a Chinese fable story about a mole who wanted to pursue everything in his life that he could not do a single thing well after becoming a 'generaliser' in all the subjects. I do not aspire to be like him and so I hope that I will be successful with this plan. This plan was done meticulously.

January's Planning...Time is ticking! Hurry!
Rationale:
This plan gives me an idea when are due dates and when I must turn my project in so it keeps me on track and motivated to finish faster so I do not miss these dates. This plan is very simple but it has the main important dates revolving the Personal Project. On December 28th, I started freaking out that I only had very little time. Eight days before the product is due! Is it not crazy? (>_<)! I have no time. But I will feel much more relieved once it is all over.

Goodbye is hard. But not so fast! There is still February to go. Heads up! On the 11th of February, all parts of the Personal Project (and I mean EVERYTHING!) is due. The exhibition will be on the 27th to 28th. I am both excited and anxious. Just keep going and moving. Everything's closing in soon. And the year will be over before I know it.
