Today I have finished my survey and created my script for my video. (I have chosen to make a video for my report instead of the other more mainstream styles of presenting the project.) I think a video will be more effective than others but I personally prefer writing an essay but Mrs. McMaster encouraged me to create an additional video to provide some background information to the many who are not very comfortable and not very aware of the great phenomenon of the dying art of Chinese Calligraphy.
My sister is very ignorant of the tradition. She doesn't know much about it but then, that explains the kind of person I was before I discovered the art of Chinese Calligraphy. I spent last night talking to her about what impact my Personal Project would have after it has been done. This question has been tormenting me for a while. What exactly will I be doing with Chinese Calligraphy after this Personal Project? I suppose, I know that I will continue with classes because I enjoy learning more about my Chinese heritage and the art does require saving and if more people become more aware of this tradition, it will live long.
Many old arts die because young people choose not to learn and understand their culture and history. Connie imposed me with such a strong question and I keep imploring myself, how indeed will I go about raising awareness about this important art form!
I have become quite distressed about the situation Chinese Calligraphy is in and I am very passionate about saving it from a tragic demise many art forms found themselves in after being neglected by their society. My survey will be used very much later in the project, perhaps after I have finished with my product. It is essential to my project.
