So much research done. I got a huge textbook annotated with notes. And I can safely say that I am ready to take my first lesson. The reason why I chose to have lessons rather than to self learn (as in the beginner, I had intended to) was because after some more research into the skills of calligraphy itself, I found that most calligraphers do study this art with a master. I think that because today's research task (Chinese Calligraphy edited and translated by Wang Youfen) was a big task for one day, I went rather brief. I may have skipped over important details, but it is definitely not necessary to read the entire book in minute detail.
Because I could not find many interviews in english about Chinese calligraphy nor ones with english subtitles, I chose to look for ones in Chinese (there are so many more!). To write notes on those videos, I will need to grasp the important messages. It is important because usually, interviewees say what they say because they think that it is worth hearing. Today, I learned more about the changes of Chinese calligraphy and its influence on society in the past. Unlike the previous source, the source that I researched on gave information regarding its impact today and in the western cultures. I will need to watch the rest of the video clips. The reason I ran upon these clips were that my dad liked to watch them on television. Good work day and I modified my plan because I had more time than I planned. Going to lessons and getting feedback and knowledge would be research. It was exciting to learn something that required so much time and mind control.
