Today is not my first but second class. My first was just a lecture for an hour and then writing. But today's atmosphere in the class room was rather different. We were all quiet and only concentrated on writing. I am so happy to have found this class so close to my building and late at night, so I could get all what I want done during the day and do my Personal Project at night as a means of mandatory work. But according to the policy, we should only be spending some limited number of hours. I think that the number is ridiculous. If I want to pass, then fine. But a good grade? At that rate seems barely possible. I procrastinate. What normally takes 1 hour would be 2. And so do many others. Personally, I would exaggerate that number to get students to do what they could do in less time. But class was fun. I wrote simple idioms and learned ways to hold the brush first-hand. Calligraphy is definitely an experience.
I wrote my script all the while researching which was good time management. I am getting further along with my website and video creation. Because I set myself a schedule of around three days to finish the script of the video, I did not include the time to retrieve and search for photographs and put everything in the right order. I will be using iMovie to create my video. Because of some time issues (I need a break! Yah!), I was hoping that I would get the script done today and start with getting pictures so tomorrow, I could focus on the photos themselves as well as creating a bibliography for it. And soon, my website will have a personal video. This will be a short video because ultimately, my product is not my video but something physical and solid. My video is not a documentary but rather just a short little clip to explain the topic (not in great detail). Because on Sunday, I am planning to move the work one day forward, I will need to do more today on the video creation. :) All is going well.
Today was my first day contributing to some aspect of the creation of my product, ultimately a scroll. The teacher presented many different styles of writing (seen in research in Criterion A), but he explained that many start with regular script because it was closest to modern day hard tool writing. If one was to go back into prior styles, it would be necessary to analyse parts and the formation of characters. My initial thought was that I would do my product there and get feedback but that may not be ideal now as I would very likely like to try writing on my own my product. And experience what a well practiced calligrapher would be doing without guidance.
